The decision as to which film to open or close the Festival is one of the most important: it largely determines the character of that edition. This year, which is particularly difficult, we are going to open the 58th edition of FICX with the French film À l'abordage! by Guillaume Brac, and we will close it with the Spanish film A Blues for Tehran, the debut of Javier Tolentino's feature film. Two optimistic titles, which help to face the days. You will be able to access both films through the FICX.TV website, as we told you in the previous newsletter.
Guillaume Brac's film is a song to optimism, a vindication of friendship, good humour and coexistence. A declaration of principles that is balsamic in the middle of the circumstances we are living because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Two young black men from the suburbs of Paris, who work to pay for their studies, set out on a journey in search of a girl, which will become an exciting adventure of initiation and summer. À l'Abordage!, included in the Albar Competition of the Official Selection, will allow the FICX to start off with a message of hope.
As with all the films in this 58th edition, both titles can be enjoyed from the FICX.TV portal, which will provide the link to all the films, the periods of time in which they will be available, as well as live broadcasts of the presentations, debates, workshops and other events online, and where you can also find all the information, cycles and complementary programmes of the Festival.
À l'Abordage! will be available from November 20th to 23rd at FILMIN, the platform that hosts all the Official Selection (distributed in four categories, Retueyos, Albar, Tierres en Trance and Short Films). While A Blues for Tehran will be shown from 26th to 28th November through the Festhome platform. Both FILMIN and Festhome will be directly accessible through FICX.TV.
There is nothing left. Go prepare the couch and the snack. Because we will inform you about more news soon.
