Initiative to discover and disseminate the values of the rural environment through the proposal of a total of 42 itineraries to explore the 24 parishes of Gijón/Xixón, walking or pedaling. Xixón ye Rural seeks to recognize the role of the rural environment in the conservation of culture, heritage and the natural environment and to transmit its importance to urban society in order to respect and preserve it.

Aproximadamente un 84% de la superficie del concejo se encuadra en el medio rural, pero no llega al 8% la población que reside en él. Los itinerarios por el medio rural permitirán a la ciudadanía observar su ancestral estilo de vida, descubriendo su riqueza cultural, su variado patrimonio, su biodiversidad, sus propuestas ecológicas y, por supuesto, conversando, entendiendo su mundo, sus problemas y sus preocupaciones.
